Privacy Policy

Effective September 25, 2026

Weather Range uses location to show forecasts and weather history. This policy explains what the iPhone app, its widgets and companion Apple Watch app use, what is kept on your device, and what is sent to service providers. The website's contact form is covered below too.

Location and weather

If you choose “Follow my location” and grant location permission, Weather Range reads your device's location. You can instead search for a place without granting that permission. The app uses coordinates for the place you choose to request forecasts and historical weather from Apple's WeatherKit, and may use Apple's location services to find place names. The app stores saved places, settings and cached weather on your device. It shares data with its widgets and sends the forecast you selected to the paired Apple Watch so those features can work.

When the app fetches WeatherKit data, its diagnostic events can include the requested location's full coordinate values. These events are sent to Datadog, including when a fetch fails. A searched or saved place can therefore appear in diagnostics even if you have not allowed access to your device's current location.

Purchases

Apple processes subscriptions and payments. Weather Range uses RevenueCat to retrieve products and manage purchase and subscription status. RevenueCat receives an app user identifier and purchase information, such as products, receipts and entitlement or expiration status. The app also keeps purchase status on your device so it can recognize an existing subscription, including when offline. We do not receive your payment card number from Apple.

Diagnostics and app usage

The iPhone app and its widgets use Datadog to collect crash reports, errors, performance information, logs, screen views and interactions with app features. This helps us find failures and improve Weather Range. Diagnostic data may include device and app information, session identifiers, and the location coordinates described above. Datadog monitoring is enabled by the app; there is currently no in-app switch to turn it off.

Website contact form

If you send a message through the help page, we receive the name, email address and message you submit so we can reply. Netlify hosts the website and processes contact-form submissions. Like other website hosts, it may also process technical request information when you visit the site.

Service providers and retention

We share data with Apple for location, weather and payments; RevenueCat for subscriptions; Datadog for diagnostics and usage monitoring; and Netlify for website hosting and contact messages. These providers process data under their own privacy terms: Apple, RevenueCat, Datadog, and Netlify. Data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States.

Saved places, settings, cached weather and local purchase status are stored on your device. Some data is replaced as the app runs; deleting the app removes its local data. Forecast data sent to a paired watch is stored on that device as well. Service-provider records and contact messages are kept as needed to run the service, investigate problems, respond to you and meet legal obligations; their retention periods depend on the service and its settings. Deleting the app does not automatically delete records already held by those providers.

Your choices and requests

You can decline or revoke device location permission in iOS Settings and use searched places instead. You can remove saved places in the app. To ask about data we hold or request deletion of records we can identify, use the contact form and say that your message is a privacy request. We may need enough information to locate the records, and some anonymous diagnostic records may not be identifiable as yours. You can also manage subscriptions through your Apple account.

We may update this policy as the app and its services change. The effective date above shows when this version took effect.
